Pixel Pete's: Bringing the Nostalgia of 90s Comic Book Stores to FiveM
Remember when comic book stores were more than just places to buy comics?
The shelves packed with colourful covers. The excitement of discovering a new issue of your favourite series. Friends gathering around tables, debating their favourite characters, trading cards, or spending an entire afternoon playing games.
For many people, comic book stores weren't simply shops. They were places to escape, socialise, and feel part of a community.
That sense of nostalgia is exactly what inspired Pixel Pete's, a 90s-style comic book store MLO for FiveM, created by TinySprite.
And now, we're bringing a little of that old-school magic to the streets of San Andreas.
The Idea Behind Pixel Pete's
Every project starts somewhere, and Pixel Pete's began with an idea from McKlean, one of the people behind TinySprite.
The inspiration was simple: nostalgia for real comic book stores and the unique atmosphere they offered.
During the 1990s, comic book stores were often more than retail spaces. They could be gathering places for enthusiasts, collectors, and groups of friends who shared a love of comics, trading cards, and tabletop games.
That atmosphere was something we wanted to bring into FiveM.
Not another nightclub. Not another mechanic shop. Not another business focused entirely on making money.
Something a little different.
A place where players could gather, discover shared interests, run a business, and create their own stories.
That's where Pixel Pete's came from.
The idea was to create a location that felt like a proper old-school comic book store while giving FiveM communities the freedom to make it their own.
Welcome to Pixel Pete's
Located in the Paleto Bay area of GTA V, Pixel Pete's brings a nostalgic comic book store experience to FiveM roleplay servers.
The MLO features a retail shop, garage and workshop, backroom office, toilet facilities, and dedicated spaces for gaming activities.
The interior draws inspiration from the colourful, character-filled comic book stores of the 1990s, offering an alternative to the businesses typically found across San Andreas.
But the real appeal isn't simply what the building looks like.
It's what players could do with it.
A Comic Book Store With Personality
The main retail area provides a setting for players to browse comics, meet other enthusiasts, and potentially operate their own comic book business.
Imagine a character who has spent years dreaming of opening a comic shop.
They finally get the keys, hire their first employee, and begin building a loyal customer base.
Perhaps they host a weekly comic book gathering or organise a special event to celebrate the release of a fictional comic series.
These are the kinds of roleplay stories a location like Pixel Pete's can help bring to life.
A Workshop Behind the Scenes
Pixel Pete's also includes a garage and workstation area.
For server owners looking to expand their business roleplay, this provides another space for creative activities.
Players could roleplay preparing stock, packaging orders, producing collectibles, or managing deliveries.
The workshop is part of the MLO environment; any interactive crafting, production, or delivery systems would depend on the scripts installed on your server.
A Backroom Office for Running the Business
Even a comic book store needs somewhere to handle the paperwork.
Pixel Pete's includes a dedicated office space where characters can manage their business, hold meetings, or plan upcoming events.
It might not be the most glamorous part of running a shop, but every business owner knows there's more to success than simply standing behind a counter.
Trading Cards, Tabletop Games, and Community Events
One of the most interesting aspects of Pixel Pete's is its potential as a social gathering place.
Comic book culture has always been closely connected to trading card games, tabletop adventures, and communities built around shared hobbies.
We wanted that connection to be part of the Pixel Pete's concept.
The MLO includes spaces intended for gaming activities, with additional interchangeable room configurations available separately.
These optional configurations allow server owners to explore different arrangements for activities such as trading card games and tabletop roleplay.
Important: Additional interchangeable gaming room configurations require a separate purchase and are not included as part of the standard MLO purchase.
For server owners interested in changing interior configurations, Pixel Pete's uses FiveM EntitySets functionality. TinySprite recommends the Advanced Change Interior / IPL resource for managing these configurations live.
Imagine Hosting a Trading Card Tournament
It's Friday evening.
Players are arriving at Pixel Pete's, ready for a trading card tournament.
Some are experienced competitors. Others are attending their first event. A few have come along simply to watch and socialise.
There are friendly rivalries, last-minute deck changes, and perhaps even an unexpected tournament champion.
For FiveM communities looking to introduce new events, it's an interesting alternative to the usual racing competitions or criminal activities.
TinySprite also offers a separate TSS Trading Card Game script for communities interested in introducing trading card gameplay.
The script is a separate resource and is not included automatically with the MLO.
A Place for Tabletop Adventures
Not every adventure in FiveM needs to involve cars, weapons, or the streets of Los Santos.
Sometimes, all you need is a group of friends, a table, and a little imagination.
Pixel Pete's provides a setting for tabletop and pen-and-paper roleplay sessions.
Imagine a group of characters meeting every weekend to continue their fantasy campaign.
Or perhaps a local gaming club forms, creating friendships and rivalries that continue beyond the tabletop.
It's a different style of social roleplay, and one that we think deserves more opportunities within FiveM.
Five Ways Your FiveM Community Could Use Pixel Pete's
One of the things we love about creating FiveM interiors is seeing how different communities find their own ways to use them.
Here are five ideas that could work particularly well with Pixel Pete's.
1. Open a Player-Owned Comic Book Store
Let players create and operate their own comic book business, complete with employees, customers, and community events.
2. Organise Weekly Trading Card Nights
Bring players together for trading card competitions, casual games, or collector gatherings.
3. Start an In-Character Tabletop Club
Give characters somewhere to meet regularly and take part in their own tabletop adventures.
4. Host Comic Book and Collectibles Events
Create fictional comic book launches, collector conventions, special sales, or themed social events.
5. Make Pixel Pete's a Community Hangout
Not every location needs a complicated gameplay system.
Sometimes, having somewhere interesting to meet other players is enough to create memorable roleplay moments.
These are suggestions for server owners rather than built-in MLO features. Some activities may require additional scripts or server configuration.

Why We Wanted to Create Something Different
FiveM has an incredible community of developers, server owners, and roleplayers.
Over the years, we've seen countless creative ideas brought to life, from complex business systems to detailed custom maps.
But one of the things that makes roleplay special is the smaller, unexpected moments.
Meeting a new friend. Discovering a shared hobby. Starting a business with another player. Or spending an evening doing something completely different from your usual routine.
Pixel Pete's was inspired by the nostalgia of comic book stores, but its potential goes beyond recreating a familiar place.
It's about giving communities another setting in which those smaller stories can happen.
We don't expect every FiveM server to suddenly become a comic book paradise.
But for communities looking to introduce something different, we hope Pixel Pete's provides an interesting place to start.
